Man nehme eine paar kreative Köpfe, die an nichts andere denken können, als an Golf, hochwertige Materialien und modernste japanische Schmiedekunst. Und heraus kommt funktionale Schönheit: Grindworks MB-1 Forged Muscle Back Blades.

Jetzt sagt ihr bestimmt “Moment mal! Grindworks? Nie gehört!”. Könnt ihr eigentlich auch noch gar nicht, da Grindworks ein noch recht junges Unternehmen aus Japan ist. Wobei jung hier nicht unerfahren heißt, denn hinter Grindworks stecken echt Clubmaker/Golf-Freaks mit teilweise jahrzehntelanger Erfahrung auf dem Gebiet.

4 Gründe, warum ich die Grindworks MB1-Forged mag

Jetzt aber zu den Blades! Karl-Heinz von Golfschlaegerbau.de war so lieb und hat mir ein MB1-Forged Eisen 6 als Tester zugesandt. Er ist übrigens aktuell der Einzige, bei dem die Grindworks-Schläger in Deutschland zu bekommen sind.

Als ich das Blade zum ersten Mal in der Hand hatte, haben mich spontan drei Dinge begeistert:

1. Die reine Optik: Ich mag das gewellte Design des Blades und die glänzenden Oberflächen sehr gern. Sie lassen das Blade sehr edel und sportlich aussehen und unterscheiden sich meiner Meinung nach deutlich von anderen Blades auf dem Markt. Einzig Mizuno-Blades finde ich ähnlich schön.

2. Das Gewicht: Früher habe ich schwere Schlägerköpfe bevorzugt, weil ich das Gefühl hatte, sie ziehen mich auf die richtige Bahn. Mittlerweile mag ich leichtere Köpfe gerne und genau so einen hat der Grindworks MB1-Forged. Zumindest spürbar leichter als bei meinem aktuellen Mizuno JPX 800. Durch den leichteren Schlägerkopf, habe ich ein gute Gefühl beim Schwung und es fühlt sich zumindest dadurch gut kontrollierbar an.

3. Das Aussehen in der Ansprechposition: In der Ansprechposition fällt schon deutlich auf, dass der Schlägerkopf etwas kleiner ist, als bei meinem Mizunos. Aber der MB1-Forged sieht schon irre sportlich und elegant aus. Wenn ich damit den Ball anspreche, fühlt es sich einfach gut und richtig an.

Also ab mit dem Blade auf die Range, denn ein bisschen Respekt habe ich vor Blades mit meinem 11er HCP schon. Grindworks verspricht nämlich trotz Blade noch Fehlerverzeihung und vor allem ein weiches Ballgefühl. Ja, ich bin Softie. Ich stehe total auf ein weiches Ballgefühl. Beim MB1-Forged ist übrigens ein dynamisches Gewicht verbaut. Dynamisch meint in diesem Fall, das je länger die Schläger sind, desto tiefer sitzt ein Gewicht im Schlägerkopf. Das soll bei langen Schlägern dabei helfen, den Ball in die Luft zu bekommen und bei kürzeren Schlägern die Konstanz und die Spinkontrolle unterstützen. Dazu kann ich leider nichts sagen, da ich nur einen Schläger ausprobiert habe.

Auf der Range fühlt sich der Schläger aber richtig gut an. Und da komme ich auch schon zu Punkt 4, was ich an dem Blade großartig finde:

4. Die Schläge mit dem Grindworks MB1-Forged fühlen sich unglaublich weich an und der Ball fliegt sehr ordentlich. Trotz Blade habe ich nicht das Gefühl, dass die Fehlertoleranz deutlich leidet. Einzig bei sehr dünn getroffenen Bällen wirds richtig haarig. Und das Steuern von Flugkurven geht einfacher, als bei meinen Mizunos. Wobei ich jetzt nicht behaupten möchte, dass ich das tatsächlich beherrsche.

 

Auf der Range hatte ich viel Spaß mit dem Schläger, also ab auf den Platz! Direkt am ersten Abschlag zog ich das 6er Eisen und… traf nicht ganz sauber. So hatte ich mir den ersten echten Einsatz nicht vorgestellt, aber das lag mehr an mir, als am Blade. Widererwartend landete der Ball aber ziemlich genau dort, wo ich ihn hinspielen wollte! Der gefürchtete Blade-Effekt mit massivem Längenverlust ist also ausgeblieben. Auch das trägt zum guten Gefühl am Schläger bei, so dass bei meinen Proberunden mein altes 6er Eisen pausieren musste.

Fassen wir also mal zusammen: Grindworks kannte ich zwar nicht, aber sie machen scheinbar vieles golfrichtig.. sorry… goldrichtig (den konnte ich mir nicht verkneifen). Wer Handicap-Bereich von unter 12 spielt und keine Angst vor Blades hat, sollte diese Babys unbedingt mal ausprobieren! Mich haben sie sowohl optisch, als auch funktional überzeugt. Was aber auf alle Fälle empfehlenswert ist, ist ein ordentliches Fitting mit den Blades!
